Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit

Artemisia 'Powis Castle' Wormwood is a perennial plant, often evergreen in warmer climates, renowned for its aromatic feathery foliage. An award-winning wormwood, it features fernlike silvery-white leaves that infuse your garden with a soft, unique texture and color. It grows into an upright, bushy mound, spreading via rhizomes, and occasionally blooms with tiny yellow flowers in late summer or early autumn.

'Powis Castle' Wormwood is believed to be a hybrid of Artemisia arborescens and Artemisia absinthium and exhibits a mounded, spreading habit. It creates a charming standalone specimen, but truly shines when grouped or massed in beds and borders with other perennial flowers. It's an excellent addition to rock gardens, xeriscapes, and urban landscapes.

Wormwood thrives in sunny spots with poor to moderately fertile, dry to medium moist, well-drained soil. It tolerates drought but will not tolerate overly wet soils. It naturally resists damage caused by deer and rabbits.

As a native North American plant, wormwood is not only visually striking but also eco-friendly. It's naturally adapted to the region's climate and soil conditions, flourishing without the need for fertilizers or additional watering once established. It also serves as a natural pest deterrent, reducing the need for chemical pesticides. By incorporating native plants into your garden, you're promoting biodiversity and providing a haven for wildlife and pollinators, creating a vibrant ecosystem to your backyard.
